And it came to pass, finally!

Wet snow today, chilly outside the mill. But inside, warm and toasty, and lots going on. After a few fits and starts last week, Saco River Dyehouse is up and running and officially open for business–pinch me. You can read all about it in our local paper–with video!

We’re dyeing yarns, this vat, that vat, trying to catch up on the Quince & Co inventory. By Thursday, we’ll be ready to ship all the colors used in Hannah Fettig’s little book, Mabel’s Closet. And shortly we’ll publish more collections that we’ve been sitting on while we waited (and waited) for YARN. Oh–the things you can do when you have yarn on the shelves!

My sister, who lives in Portland, sent me the link to the article the other day. I love this story of the dye works! Plus I believe my grandfather had something to do with that building – will ask my mom when I see her on Christmas. Can’t wait to see the new batches!

I am so thrilled that you are up and running – and I have been from the day I read you were setting up (or participating in) your own dye house right in Maine! I can’t wait to visit next time I’m there. Best of luck for the future running of the dye house, congratulations, and may you thrive as a local business – it certainly is much, much appreciated!
