Porthole and polka dots

Sometimes it starts with the yarn. Sometimes with a tear sheet. Sometimes with a polka dot dress.

When we saw this pretty piece, we knew we had to knit something to wear with it. A sweater would have covered it up. A shrug would take too long to knit. A little chapeau in Finch would be just right, a topper lightweight and breezy. And River, a clean, almost-nautical medium blue makes a good counterpoint for crisp red dots on summer white.

Originally, we were going to shoot this on the wharf. Hence, the name Porthole. But we ended in a back street several blocks away. Perhaps we should have called the cap Back Alley Beret. ?
