Hannah Fettig pointed us to Karen Templer’s stunning version of the State Street Cowl in Puffin, color Frank’s Plum. I love it and wish I’d made the original in this size. But never too late. I’ll be casting on for Karen’s cowl in the next few hours.
She used three skeins of Puffin rather than two, and added one repeat of the 17-st and 12-row repeat in each direction. Her post on getting started has some good tips for keeping track of where you are, if, as I often am, you’re given to paying more attention to your Netflick than your needles.
If you plan to order yarn for this, you might add a skein (four total) to be on the safe side. The project takes all the yarn called for and people knit differently. I know it’s hard to believe, but some people’s stitches take up more yarn than others, even at the same gauge. I know, I know. I KNOW. Hard to believe. But it’s true. We’ll always take your extra skein back, if you don’t dip into it.
Karen notes in her blog that the color Frank’s Plum in her photo shows it more intense than is actual. So picture a purple that is vibrant but a bit milder than shown. What is it about reds and purples in digital form? Bling!
