cooperi in crane

When Kelly Anderson's Cooperi cowl was chosen for the Scarves, etc 7 collection we published just over a year ago, we had hoped to have it knit up in squishy, luxurious Crane, our worsted weight, single-ply mohair and merino blend. Unfortunately, as happens often with living fibers, the yarn couldn't be released as scheduled for this version of Cooperi to come out into the world.

Leila also saw it being lovely in our ultra-soft merino Phoebe, so that's what we sent to Kelly with which to knit up her pretty two-color brioche cowl (the original was knitted up in Ursa and Mercury). We still really wanted to see the Crane version though, and once the yarn was released, we asked her to make another sample, which thankfully, she was happy to do for us.

We decided this would be the perfect way to usher in our latest crop of Crane colors, as this cowl uses Aquilla and Pearland, two of our three new colors.

Left to right: Crane in new colors Pearland, Aquilla, and Bandera

She knitted the sample exactly as written in the pattern, so the dimensions and the gauge are different in this iteration, but the result is the same: A gorgeous, cozy cowl that you can loop around twice if you like, that is fun to make.

We've listed the new dimensions, needle and yarn requirements, and gauge below as well as on the product page. One note that Kelly sent us on this version is that she only used a little bit of the second skein on each. If you just want to use one skein each, omit the final repeat of Rows 1-12 (will shorten the overall cowl depth by approximately 1½" [4 cm]). And of course, if you would like an ultra-deep luxurious winter windbreaker, by all means, insert another repeat (or two!) of Rows 1-32 (each rep adds approximately 3" [7.5 cm] to the overall depth).

And right now, from November 21st to December 2nd, a purchase of 2 or more skeins of Crane gets you this pattern for free! Add 2 or more skeins, plus the Cooperi pattern to your cart, and enter the code cooperi at checkout.

Thanks again Kelly!!
