glen: a fall collection

Here in Maine we're seeing hints that Fall season is right around the corner, and our knitting needles are at the ready—are yours? We have new autumn-inspired gems to share from the Quince design team!

Out today is Glen, a collection of four knits by Dianna Walla, Melissa LaBarre, and Pam Allen. Worked in various weights of our core wool lines, each one is fun, simple to work, and a fresh take on beloved classics. Let's take a look at each one.

Pictured above left is Svana, in three colors of sportweight Chickadee, designed by Dianna Walla. The colorwork on this raglan pullover is worked over the garment body, a lovely departure from the more traditional placement of colorwork at the upper yoke. Dianna takes the twist even further with a traditional Japanese wave motif, creating altogether a beautifully modern take on classic colorwork.

Pam Allen's Gretel cardigan (above, right) is embellished with guernsey-inspired knit and purl textures, each element combining to create a balanced set of motifs in the sweater's bottom border, front bands, and cuffs. Knitted from the bottom up in worsted weight Lark, Gretel's shoulders extend beyond the body to form part of the sleeves, using short-rows to shape the shoulder slope for a flattering fit.

The Glen collection also features two designs by Melissa LaBarre. Helga, pictured above left, is worked in two strands of Chickadee held together, with garter stitch hems and cuffs, pockets, and—our favorite part—a hood! Quince's wool palette now boasts 60 shades to choose from, opening up your marled color options to near-limitless possibilities...stick with neutrals, choose whether to go with low or high contrast, combine bright shades together or with more subdued ones. So many ways to make this one your own. And knitting with Chickadee doubled makes this hooded pullover more quick to reach the finish line than you'd think.

Melissa also designed Alba (above, right) which uses three colors of Finch—one for the brim and in the striping in the crown, and the other two for the colorwork motif in the main section and pompom. No shortage of pompom love at Quince!

We hope you enjoy our design team's mini Fall collection, and we'd love to hear what you think about it! Svana, Gretel, Helga, and Alba are available to purchase as a bundle, or as individual patterns
