sparrow 2016 spotlight: aila

Mar 13, 2016 :: by Leila Raabe

Show off those sun-kissed shoulders this summer in a linen top like Aila, from the Sparrow 2016 collection. As Pam says:

Isabell Kraemer shows off how nicely the yarn knits up in lace patterns. Her timeless sleeveless top, bordered at the hem by an openwork diamond motif, is the quintessential summer piece. Easy knit, easy fit. We tried various styling ideas, but we ended with the simplest solution—nothing but our favorite gray jeans. Like those well-loved pants, Isabell’s top is something you’d put on when you want to feel at home in your clothes, confident and happy.

Aila is knitted from the top down in one piece, beginning from a provisional cast-on at the back neck. The pattern is written for seven sizes, from 28" up to 49¼" finished bust measurement, shown above in size 30¾" with 3¼" of negative ease.

Curious to try out one of the new Sparrow colors for 2016, I swatched the diamond lace motif from Aila in Eclipse:

Heavenly. Yes, this is something I'd feel right at home in, judging by the colors of my other favorite things.

Enjoy the weekend, all.
