How about a lovely blanket to wrap yourself in when it's just a bit on the chilly side? Enter Edelweiss, Pam Allen's lovely new design in Tern.

This blanket measures a substantial 40½" by 62½", with a pretty allover leaf lace that's easy and rhythmic—almost meditative—to work. A simple ribbed border frames the entire piece.

We wanted to share the magical transformation that blocking gives a textural motif like this one: Below, the rippling, energetic landscape of unblocked knitting at left; at right, after a gentle steam-blocking, stitches fall into formation all crisp, neat, and two-dimensional.

We'll never tire of watching stitches undergo a good blocking—in our opinion, always an essential step to fully completing a beautiful project.
