If you've got a hankering to make knitted leaves, you can do no better that Nicky Epstein's Knitted Embellishments (Interweave Press, 1999). I made these with Chickadee and used the pattern for Sonja's Leaf on page 47. I made one small tweak. I worked an i-cord on three stitches and increased to five on the last i-cord row. Then purled across the back and started with Row 1.
When I had a small pile, all blocked and steamed into leaf shape, I did some very quick embroidery.
I plan to spread these on the table today, under candles. But they might look nice, too, hanging on fishing line from the fixture above. As if they were just about to fall onto our plates.
Yes. Always grateful for the beauty of the world that surrounds us. Nothing can improve on nature's palette.
