leaf-top baby hat / Susan B. Anderson

Knitted from the bottom up, this fun little hat is worked in the round and crowned with a cluster of knitted leaves, with illustrated instructions for securing them to the hat top. Knit one in greens, as we did, or choose autumn shades—or whatever your imagination fancies.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

11 (13, 14¼)" [28 (33, 37) cm] brim circumference and 5¼ (6¼, 6¾)" [13.5 (16, 17) cm] tall, to fit sizes 0-3 (6-12, 12-18) month / shown in middle size

YARN:

lark / 1 skein each snap pea 128 (A) / bark 121 (B) / parsley 129 (C) / Note: Approx 5 yds each of B and C are used - if you have leftovers of lark, use them!

NEEDLES:

set dpns in size US 7 [4.5 mm]

GAUGE:

22 sts and 32 rnds = 4" [10 cm] in stockinette stitch, after blocking

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Long-tail cast on, making an i-cord (link provided), increasing, decreasing, working small circumferences in the round
