The pullover is knit ‘sideways’ from cuff to cuff.  Beginning from the right sleeve, the sleeve is worked in the round with increases to underarm. Stitches for the body are cast on and the front and back are worked flat in one piece following the sleeve. When the right side of the body reaches to the neck, the front and back are separated and worked separately while shaping neck opening. Once neck shaping is done, front and back are joined and worked in one piece as the left side of the body to the left shoulder. The side is closed and the left sleeve is worked to cuff with decreases.

Keiko Kikuno

$8

Influenced by Japan's reknowned zen gardens, the Karesansui pullover echoes the tranquil essence. Its graceful cables, with intentionally placed bobbles recreate the winding patterns often presented in these gardens.  Its unique construction, worked sideways from cuff to cuff, creates a graceful drape to the pullover.. Knit in cotton/wool blend Wren, Karesansui evokes a sense of zen-like serenity in its entirety.

This pattern is also available as part of Artisan Collection: Keiko Kikuno.
