Mirva Scivola

Residing in Italy, designer Mirva Scivola of Rustic house Knits draws inspiration from the great, gleaming seagulls that soar above the sea year-round. In winter, when the wind rises, they spread their wide wings and glide effortlessly with the gusts. The design of these socks captures that movement—the quiet rhythm of wings, the grace of the gabbiani in flight.

Knit in Starling, the socks are worked from the toe up and feature a Fleegle heel. A Fleegle heel is a clever, seamless heel construction designed by knitter Susan Glinert Stevens (who goes by “Fleegle” online). It’s known for being simple to knit, comfortable to wear, and requiring no picking up of stitches.
