Designer Mirva Scivola of Rustic house Knits presents Sughero socks. Inspired by her childhood memories of Finnish homes where some floors were made of cork, soft underfoot and never cold, these socks pay homage to that unique material. While cork is most familiar in wine stoppers, its source, the cork oak tree, does not grow in Finland. Now making her home in Italy, Mirva was captivated when she first encountered the cork oak, its richly textured bark unlike any tree she had seen before. Knit in Starling, Sughero (Italian for cork) lends its name and character to these socks, a design rooted in both memory and discovery.
