Bio
Designer Alison Lee’s grandmothers contributed to her knitting journey in very different ways. Her paternal grandmother taught her the technique of knitting when she was a child, and her maternal grandmother, through her dedication to her sheep farm, taught Alison to respect and love where materials come from. Growing up on a small island off the west coast of Canada, one of Alison’s most cherished memories is bottle-feeding her granny’s lambs with the beauty of nature all around her. These values are ingrained, and inspire many of her designs. In all of her projects, she aims to highlight the unique qualities of the yarn, while incorporating elements of nature. The creation aspect of knitting still brings her great joy, but she also appreciates more and more the many ways the craft can impact others. From bringing soothing comfort to her patients experiencing dementia in her work as a Registered Nurse, to keeping her two boys warm, to building lasting friendships amongst other knitters, knitting has touched and brought happiness to so many aspects of her life. trawler set

Alison Lee

$8

Designed by Alison Lee, the Trawler set features a classic, snug-fitting cabled beanie and a narrow cowl (or headband) designed to complement one another. Both are intentionally close-fitting, minimizing bulk while maximizing warmth and comfort.

Knit in Hawk, our tweedy handsome Alpaca/ Merino blend, the set features moss stitch flowing into fields of winding cables, echoing the ropes and rigging of a well-used trawler. Together, they capture the quiet beauty of work and wear, grounded in texture and tradition.
