celebrating earth day

At Quince we are passionate about caring for our planet. Sustainable sourcing, carbon footprint reduction, and highlighting the importance of the slow fashion movement inherent to our craft all dovetail with our vision of mindful stewardship of our world for future generations.

Now, more than ever, we're feeling the impacts of our actions, big and small, on a global scale; in light of current events it becomes even more apparent that, truly, we are all in this together. Each one of us can make a difference, no matter how slight.

This year, we're donating 10% of Earth Day sales to an organization dedicated to making a long-term impact on fighting climate change — Let's Fund: The Clean Energy Innovation Program at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF).

From their website:

Advanced economies like the US and EU are prioritizing reducing their own emissions. But by 2040, 75% of all emissions will come from emerging economies such as China and India. Only if advanced economies’ climate policies reduce emissions in all countries will we prevent dangerous climate change. The best policies to do this are those that stimulate innovation and make clean energy technology cheaper in all countries. We compared 10 climate policies that stimulate innovation (e.g. carbon taxes, deployment subsidies, cutting fossil fuel subsidies) and found that increasing government budgets for public clean energy research and development (R&D) is the most effective—even more effective than carbon taxes.

We revisited Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot, as true today as it ever was. Happy Earth Day to us all—the only home we've ever known.
